Hello, and welcome to In The Springs. I am your host, Ryan Lowery.

In late 2004, I began performing standup comedy right here in Colorado Springs, CO. For years, I spent a tremendous amount my free time writing and performing. Comedy clubs, bars, small theaters, coffee houses, college cafeterias. If there was a microphone and a group of people, I was more than willing to climb on stage to try and make strangers laugh.

During my standup comedy career, I performed in front of 6 people, late show Friday at Loonee’s Comedy Corner in Colorado Springs, CO. I performed in front of several thousand people at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater outside of Morrison, CO. I performed for drunk idiots. I performed for senior citizens. I performed for teenagers. I got on stage as often as I could for as long as I could. Until I walked away in late 2011.

There was no monumental circumstance that lead to me leave the scene. My part-time comedy career had run its course. For over seven years, standup comedy opened doors and gave me opportunities that I would not otherwise have had. It provided a connection to some of the most talented, thoughtful, genuine people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. And that’s how In The Springs was born…

I came up with the idea for In The Springs based on the tremendous amount of talent that is either based here in Colorado Springs or passes through Colorado Springs. My connection to that world lies largely in the standup comedy community. So that is where we will begin. My goal, however, is to expand the reach of In The Springs to include all areas of the art and entertainment scenes that call Colorado Springs home.  Even if only for a little while.

When I started my standup comedy career back in 2004, I had no idea what I was doing. Through hard work, commitment, and a genuine love of the art I was able to accomplish more than I could have imagined. I plan on bringing that same passion to In The Springs and I welcome you to come along for the ride.
